Types of Massage

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the releasing and relaxing of the deeper layer of muscle tissue. It is used to target areas of chronic tension and stress by using deeper, firmer strokes with and against the muscle fibers. The more intense movements and techniques such as deep finger pressure may be slightly uncomfortable and cause soreness that lasts a couple of days but will ultimately result in the desired relaxation and pain relief.

Trigger Point Therapy is aimed at releasing the "knots" that people often feel in their muscles by using specific compression techniques to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. The result of trigger point massage is the elimination of toxins in the muscles and the release of energizing endorphins. A significant decrease in pain is often found after just one treatment.

Swedish Massage relaxes the entire body by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Additional techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching.

Prenatal Massage offers undeniable physical benefits such as stimulating the lymphatic system, increasing immunity and the removal of excess toxins, while also stabilizing hormonal levels and balancing the glandular system. Massage therapy is a wonderful, complimentary choice for prenatal care and a healthy way to reduce stress and promote general well-being.

Sports Massage can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event. The particulars of the massage are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice and are often focused on a particular troublesome area. Athletes have discovered that specially designed massage promotes flexibility, removes fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries, and prepares them to compete at their absolute best.

There is no "one size fits all" massage. Session prices are based on the length of the massage not the type of massage; whether you want therapeutic deep tissue, relaxing swedish

or anything in between.
